Frimley Green Cricket Club vs Langley - Sunday 19th May 2024, 13:00
Frimley Green Cricket Club (146/5) beat Langley (143 all out) by 5 wickets
Match Detail
Yesterday, we had another fantastic outing on the cricket field. Despite the forecast predicting rain on Saturday, we were fortunate that the rain held off. FGCC won the toss and opted to bowl first. Despite missing some of our top performers, the new players stepped up impressively. Ritam claimed a crucial wicket of the opener with a beautiful catch by Ritesh, who bravely took the catch after being struck in a sensitive area while fielding. Ritam quickly followed up with another wicket. A small partnership began to form for the third wicket, but a brilliant stumping by Mark off Swaroop's bowling ended that threat. We had to wait a bit for the fourth wicket, which came in the 31st over when Manoj struck twice in two balls, despite having two successive plumb LBW appeals turned down earlier. He then took another wicket with a caught and bowled in the next over, leaving Langley at 126 for 6. Ashraf and Pravesh swiftly wrapped up the remaining wickets. In our batting innings, Mark was unfortunately dismissed early, caught off a well-timed pull shot. We then lost three more wickets quickly, leaving FGCC struggling at 18 for 4 in the 8th over. This is when Manoj and Ashraf built a solid partnership, with Ashraf aggressively scoring 47 off just 34 balls, including three towering sixes. When Ashraf was dismissed, FGCC still needed fifty runs with only one recognized batter left, Swaroop. Swaroop played a crucial, gritty innings, blocking almost everything to frustrate the bowlers. His score of 8 runs off 38 balls does not reflect the importance of his innings. Manoj scored a vital fifty, and FGCC achieved victory within 30 overs.

Champagne Moment
:
Mark getting a girl's number between innings was a highlight (what a champion!). He spent more time with her during the break than on the pitch! ??
