Badshot Lea vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 26th May 2024, 13:00

We had another wonderful outing yesterday. The day started with the opposition team's captain calling me 30 minutes before the start, complaining about the condition of the ground and offering their own ground to play at. As it was just 10 minutes away, our entire team was there on time. Thanks, everyone! FGCC won the toss and elected to bat first. Our openers started cautiously, and after 5 overs, the score was 18 runs with no wickets. Then Hafiz began an onslaught, scoring 30 runs in a single over (no ball, 4, 6, 4, 6, 4, (4), no ball). Hafiz completed his 50 in just 41 balls. We lost two quick wickets, Hafiz and Roni. Ashraf looked promising, hitting a flat six and a four, but he was declared LBW. We then had a small partnership between Mark and Ritam. Mark completed his 50 with a boundary on the last ball of the 20th over. He went on to score 63 before falling to a bowler with a controversial action (lets say he can put Baseball pitcher to shame) Dhawnil and Ritam then formed a steady partnership, with Dhawnil making a valiant effort to get out on a caught and bowled attempt. After Ritam fell in the 34th over, Manoj made a quickfire 35 off just 18 balls, well complemented by Ritesh with his valuable 13 runs. **Bowling** Ritesh started brilliantly, taking two quick wickets, including one in the first over. Manoj took another wicket, and Badshot Lea was 14 for 3 in 3 overs. They had two partnerships, but Ashraf (1 wicket) and Dhawnil (2 wickets) never let them settle. By the end of the 18th over, it started to rain, and by the end of the 20th over, it was clear it wouldn't stop soon. Badshot Lea's groundskeeper suggested we stop playing on the pitch, and their captain accepted the loss, needing over 200 runs in 20 overs with 4 wickets in hand. It was another great outing.
