Badshot Lea vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 8th July 2007, 14:00
Frimley Green Cricket Club (106/5) beat Badshot Lea (105 all out) by 5 wickets
Match Detail
Frimley Green finally ended their losing sequence, winning for the first time since 16th July 2006. FGCC, bowling first, got off to a good start, with opening bowlers Nick Gates and Julian Bland decapitating the Badshot Lea lineup, taking 3 wickets between them, before David Huggett and Rus Edmonds got into the middle order. Huggett took his first 5-wicket haul for the club, 4 of them bowled, whilst Edmonds took a wicket and 3 catches. Chasing 106 for victory, FGCC's Jon Prior was dismissed for 0, but Tim Jones and Gordon Marsh got the team to 40 before Jones misjudged a run and was scuppered by a direct hit. At 40/2 the game was still in the balance, but Gordon's excellent innings, ably assisted by the excellent Paul Broome, took the score to 96 before Broome nicked the thinnest of edges and walked. There was still a slight scare, as Al Hammond was bowled first ball, but Alan Greaves stuck around to see Gordon Marsh deservedly hit the winning run.
