The opposition won the toss and chose to bat first. We opened brilliantly, with Rohit Pachory striking early—three quick wickets while conceding just six runs in his first three overs. At that stage, it looked like we might bowl them out for 50–60 runs. They were 45/4 after 10 overs and 82/5 at the 20-over mark.
However, the momentum shifted. Whether we relaxed because of the strong start or struggled due to the cold, windy conditions with no sun, we dropped several straightforward catches as our hands froze up. Those misses proved costly. One of the batters who benefited from the drops went on to score an unbeaten 110. We managed only one more wicket in the next 20 overs, and their batters capitalised on the gaps in our field placements, finding boundaries regularly. They finished at 214/6—far more than what we had anticipated early on.
Our batting innings mirrored theirs at the start. We lost wickets quickly and were 12/4 after 10 overs and 60/4 after 20. The early collapse had put pressure on the middle order, who became overly cautious in an attempt to stabilise the innings. The slow scoring rate hurt us later; when we eventually tried to accelerate, wickets fell consistently. We were bowled out for 171 in 38.4 overs.
Despite the result, it was a competitive game. With tighter fielding and those dropped catches taken, the match could easily have swung in our favour.
