Frimley Green Cricket Club (109/9) drew with Tilford (181/9)
Rus Edmonds
A fine, stinging, low catch from Antony Johnson to dismiss Martin Cantwell.
Frimley Green earned a creditable draw in this timed game thanks in the main to a battling innings from Rus Edmonds. With Tilford batting first and getting off to a cracking start, FGCC appeared to be in trouble. However, some economical bowling in the middle of the innings saw them claw things back, before an excellent spell from Shahid Hussain saw Tilford collapse to 181/9 from 45 overs. Frimley Green's reply saw Tim Jones and Antony Johnson controversially depart early, both to catches which appeared to be off no-balls. Things soon became worse, and FGCC were teetering on the brink of embarrassment at 24/4. A battling innings from Jon Prior, who had good support from Sam Harmsworth, took the score to 41 before Sam was clean bowled. Things were going Tilford's way, but Rus Edmonds couldn't countenance defeat, and put together a partnership of 31 with Jon Prior, who was ultimately out LBW. Rus then nearly ran out of partners, with Shahid Hussain, Nick Gates, and Julian Bland all out. Ultimately David Huggett and Rus saw off the final 3 overs despite murky light and quick, straight bowling, much to the delight of Frimley Green's biggest crowd of the season.
