The juniors of Badshot Lea are growing up fast and their batting firepower proved too much for FGCC with the home side coasting to a four-wicket victory.
FGCC Captain Gordon Marsh started well by winning the toss on a scorching hot day to ensure batting first on a good pitch. Gordy then played a marvellous innings carrying his bat with a personal highest score for the club with an unbeaten 86 without giving a sniff of a chance to the oppo. Alas the same could not be said of his fellow batters. Paul Broome stuck around for a bit, Tim Jones looked fluent whilst in, but alas the rest fell cheaply and quickly. It was left to No. 11 David Banner, I mean Huggett (don't make him angry) to show those higher up the order a thing or two by ensuring the 40 overs were used up, with a fine 11 not out.
After the tea of the season as it is every year, Frimley Green came out with tails up and feeling pretty pleased with ourselves after the first three batsmen were back in the hutch with only single figures to their name. However, we were not reckoning on the excellent maiden half-century from the young Badshot Lea skipper David Jennings. An accomplished innings indeed (63 not out). Supported by the big hitting of Holloway (35) and Stenning (31 not out) to bring the home side the win with a comfortable 10 overs plus to spare.
