St Michael's - International tour vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 2nd May 2010, 14:00

Frimley Green Cricket Club (146/3) beat St Michael's - International tour (143/3) by 7 wickets

Match Detail
Frimley Green's first match outside of England and Wales ended in a stunning victory at the Kingholm ground in Dumfries thanks to a superb knock from Antony Johnson. Losing the toss and seeing the opposition opt to bat, FGCC kept things fairly tight but missed several tough chances in the field. Several times the ball was hit in the air just short or wide of the fielder, whilst a well-struck hook from opener C Taylor slipped through the fingers of Amit Gupta like a greased haggis and over the boundary for six. Taylor retired on 50 whilst his opening partner John Muttiah retired hurt for 28 one ball after surviving a run-out opportunity. Ultimately their side scored a very respectable 143/3, aided by some big hitting from A Kishore. Frimley Green got off to a slow start with their opening pair scoring only 5 between them, and by the halfway stage of their innings had scored just 46 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. However, with Alan Greaves injecting some urgency into the chase with some excellent running whilst Antony Johnson came into his own at the other end, the target gradually became manageable. When Greavsie was dismissed, FGCC needed 36 runs from 7 overs, and with Ants by then firing on all cylinders they motored to victory with 2.3 overs to spare, Amit Gupta hitting the winning boundary to cap a delightful cameo. Ants had scored 93 runs from 92 balls including 6 sixes; a magnificent effort and an object lesson in how to chase down a target. All in all Frimley Green had put in an excellent stint in this 30 over game, particularly considering the rigours of the previous day's drinking.
