In a rain affected match FGCC escaped with a draw after their innings was brought to an end by yet another serious downpour as they chased a high total from Royal Ascot.
Under cloudy skies the visitors kept the scoreboard ticking over at a fast rate despite losing wickets. A swashbuckling century was made by Premachandra just before the rain became too heavy to avoid the first of the disruptions to the match.
After tea Frimley Green came back refreshed and dismissed the centurion and the rest of the tail thanks mainly to the efforts of Rich Loosley. A five-for on debut was the dream start for this outstanding find of a young left-arm seamer who came into the team to replace Nug who is on gardening leave. JP took the second of two fine catches behind the stumps to bring about the end of the big total posted by Royal Ascot.
FGCC failed to explode out of the blocks in their reply in the face of a fine bowling attack and a deterioating pitch. First Gordy holing out as he tried to lift the run rate. Then Brown succumbing leg before to a ball that skidded through low (not a good day for the Aussies all round - sorry couldn't resist that one Dave: congratulations to England T20 World Champions!). Finally Greaves ran himself out looking for a single that wasn't there. Good for Tim Jones to spend some time at the crease where he looked assured as ever. Amit ran out to begin his knock only to run back in again without facing a ball as the heavens really opened to bring a premature and very wet end to the game.
