Frimley Green Cricket Club vs Royal Ascot - Sunday 15th May 2011, 14:00

Royal Ascot (203/9) beat Frimley Green Cricket Club (138/9) by 65 runs

Match Detail
FGCC came down to earth with a bump following last week's victory against a very capable Royal Ascot side. Having lost the toss on an overcast day, FGCC's bowlers came up against a barrage until Royal Ascot's opener was well caught by Rus Edmonds at mid-off. Kevin Whitehorn came into the fray and kept things tight until drinks, which unfortuantely seemed to refresh the visitors as left-hander Tharindu helped himself to a 50 in good time. The fifth wicket partnership lasted a while until Ants Johnson came in and took two wickets in two balls, and with Brown and Gates finishing with good figures Royal Ascot ended on 203 - ironically the exact same score FGCC got the week before. FGCC's reply was stifled by some very tight bowling - opener Rafiq finishing with stingy figures of 8-7-1-2. Runs were few and far between, although Rich and Gordon Marsh on season debut looked in good nick. Ultimately FGCC never got going and fell some way short of their target.
