On a warm early summer's day FGCC were soundly beaten despite posting a decent score against old adversaries Badshot Lea.

Winning the toss, FGCC started poorly with everyone's favourite publican Owen getting caught behind off to one which may or may not have flicked pad instead of bat. Ants and Tim kept things ticking over until Tim fell to former FGCC one-game wonder Josh 'dog lead' Menzies. After Ants and Dave fell in quick succession, it was left to a typically hungover JP and debutant Harvey Fuller to take the game by the horns, which they did with a 92 run unbeaten 5th wicket partnership, made up of some dominant hitting (Harvey's first ever runs for FGCC coming in the shape of a 6 over mid-off) and at times circumspect running between the wickets. All in all 181-4 seemed like a decent score to post.

After tea, Badshot Lea came out with the bit between their teeth and attacking stroke play on their mind. Dangerman Max Morris fell 3rd ball thanks to a corking outswinger courtesy of Nug, but after this Badshot Lea MOTM Menzies and James put on a blistering display of hitting, taking ordinarily economical bowlers to town. Nick came on and after some rough treatment eventually managed to eek both batsmen out, but this only set the scene for the 'locomotive' and part-time FGCC player Sam Acres to see off some turning deliverys from Jim and Harvey, making a quickfire 40 in the process. Nug came back and took two late wickets, but by then the game had got away, and Badshot Lea ended victorious with more than 10 overs to spare.
