Wood Street Village vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 21st August 2016, 13:30

Frimley Green Cricket Club (73/4) drew with Wood Street Village (214/7)

Match Detail
A rusty FGCC were saved by the rain in this match-up against Wood Street Village. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first on a green track with plenty of cloud cover, FGCC's attack was taken to the sword somewhat by 50s for both opener Williams and the left-handed Stone, who came in after wicket-keeper Adam had Binfield caught behind off Rich's bowling. Kevin was once again the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-22 off his 8-over spell. A wicket for Greavsie, two for Rus and another for Rich helped to stem the tide to some degree, but with WSV free to swing the bat at the end of the innings their 214-7 looked to be a tough score to chase down. Of course it could have been so much better if FGCC had held their catches - , at least half the team spilled easy-to-medium chances, even more surprising when you consider it was usually fielders renowned for their catching acumen (oh, and the skipper too). Maybe not playing for over a month has taken its toll on some of us....? Under ever-greying skies FGCC's reply got off to a steady start with Rich and Anu looking settled until a blinding catch at gully did for Rich. Mark soon followed to an equally sublime snag, and when Anu holed out (he was in a rush to get to work, so fair do's) it was left to Adam and Ants to rebuild. A 32-run partnership between the two got FGCC to drinks. And then the rain came. Mike gallantly strode out to face one ball, then both captains decided enough was enough and abandoned the game as a draw to finish off what was a cracking tea.
