On a sopping wet day with intermittent showers, and the covers brought onto the pitch 3 times during the match, Pinkneys Green won the toss and elected to bat with a damp outfield to navigate. Kanavel's spell - bowling his 6 allocated overs straight through on this rain-affected 30 overs per-side game - deserved a wicket, but it was Sheshi who made the breakthrough, first by forcing opening bat Elliott to serve one up to Pete at mid-off, then by trapping Chamdal LBW the next over. With PGCC skip Will Heyes hitting an unbeaten 50, despite serving up the odd chance and surviving a confident LBW shout off Kanavel's bowling - Frimley Green turned to 12-year old debutant Arul to make something happen. They didn't have to wait long either - his second ball saw Dixon play a false drive straight into Suresh's hands, seeing the young lad grab his first FGCC wicket. But Suresh wasn't done there: with the skipper being deprived of a wicket earlier in his over, Jim saw his vice-captain take a blinder to dismiss O'Connor...

...but one over later the rain came again, and with one of the PGCC groundstaff cycling from his house to inspect the pitch and deciding he didn't want it wrecked any further, the game was brought to an abrupt - although perfectly justifiable - end.

FUN FACT - according to the chat around the ground Pinkneys Green have their own meteorologist among their ranks. He wore a fluorescent yellow mac and used to be a Met Office weatherman. Apropos to nothing, but there you go.
