Frimley Green Cricket Club vs Royal Ascot - Sunday 15th July 2007, 14:00

Royal Ascot (200 all out) beat Frimley Green Cricket Club (109/9) by 91 runs

Match Detail
On an overcast day at Frimley Green Recreation Ground, Royal Ascot won convincingly thanks to some tight bowling and hard-hitting batting. Winning the toss and opting to bat, Royal Ascot started poorly, Julian Bland bowling opener C Foreman with the first ball of the match. Bland and Nick Gates shared 4 wickets in their opening spells, and had the opposition up against it. However, the middle order fought back hard, Dilon and Muneer sharing 120 runs in a superb partnership. When that partnership was finally broken with Paul Broome's first ball, the tail folded, Tim Jones bowling excellently to add 4 wickets to his 2 catches. When Antony Johnson caught number 11, A Wiggett, Royal Ascot were all out for 200. FGCC then never really looked like overhauling that total. Royal Ascot bowled well, with opener Gihan finishing with excellent figures of 8-2-11-2. Frimley Green's struggles to score were summed up by Gordon Marsh, who took an incredible 36 balls to get off the mark. Tim Jones scored a useful 22, and Jon Prior a creditable unbeaten 36, but the asking rate was well beyond FGCC, who finished up on 109/9 from their 40 overs.
