Welford Park vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 6th September 2009, 14:00
Welford Park (132/5) beat Frimley Green Cricket Club (128 all out) by 5 wickets
Match Detail
A spectacular batting collapse from Frimley Green effectively handed victory to Welford Park despite a brilliant effort from Dave Brown. Brown, opening the innings, scored 87 from 84 balls before skying one, after which the innings folded horribly. From 76/1, FGCC went to 90/3, 109/5, and 118/9 thanks to a hat-trick from Will Thornton, who bowled superbly. FGCC had reached 128 when David Huggett top-edged a hook to end the innings, before throwing his bat and gloves away in frustration. He then opened the bowling and soon nipped out opener Suvo Datta with a jaffa before Marcus Carmichael took 2 wickets to hand the initiative to FGCC. However, excellent batting from W Herrington (45), backed up by M Brook's patient 28no, saw Welford Park reach their target with 5 wickets and 5 overs in hand.
