Ottershaw & Hamm Moor vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 17th July 2011, 14:00

A timed game played out under rainy skies, and delayed by an hour, was eventually won by Ottershaw and Hamm Moor, who kept up their 100% record against FGCC. Frimley Green, winning the toss and opting to bat in murky, sodden conditions, got off to an excellent start, a 122-run partnership between Dave Brown and Rich Loosley (scoring his third successive half-century) setting the perfect platform for some late hitting. Said hitting never quite came off, with Ottershaw never losing their discipline and the brothers Cooper sending a stump out of the ground on 4 occasions. FGCC sportingly declared soon after a superb tea, setting Ottershaw a tempting 168 to win from around 34 overs. That chase started slowly, with David Huggett's opening spell (5-2-6-0) keeping Tim Keene and S Cooper tied down. However, those shackles were broken as the batsmen played themselves in, and they soon tucked into the bowling as 'twere the tea itself, punishing anything short with thumping pulls to midwicket and drives aplenty. Dave Brown eventually had Keene LBW for 43 to give his side renewed hope. However, that hope was extinguished by S Cooper, who survived two very strong appeals off the unlucky Russell Edmonds to smash an excellent 76 and take his side home with 3.1 overs to spare.
