Frimley Green Cricket Club vs Seven Sports - Sunday 5th June 2016, 14:00
Seven Sports (151/4) beat Frimley Green Cricket Club (148 all out) by 6 wickets
Match Detail
A solid opening stand between Tim and Mark was not enough as FGCC were well-beaten by a 10-man Seven Sports side in this 35 overs-a-side match. Winning the toss and electing to bat on a hot early summer's day, Tim and Mark continued where they left off against Warfield with some rapid scoring in their 77-run partnership, ticking along at more than 5 an over until Tim was judged LBW to a ball which he was adamant he hit. Now if last week's rot was a minor blip this week's was dire - wickets falling all over the place to tame shots looped up providing Seven Sports with ample opportunities to bag wickets. The main beneficiary was Lee Hill, who in his 5 over spell took an astonishing 7-18. All this despite Mark once again hitting 50 - that's 5 on the spin now. The end of his innings, brought about in the most unfortunate of circumstances (fielder dropped a catch, picked up and made a direct hit), spelt doom for FGCC, with no other batsmen besides the openers making it into double figures and with 29 balls still to be bowled. Taking to the field after a debut tea kindly provided by the Fleming clan, Seven Sports were in no mood to hang around and quickly matched FGCC's initial scoring burst. This was curtailed to some degree by wickets for Tim, Rus and Jim, the latter perhaps the only bowler to come out with respectable figures on a turning track. With 4 wickets down old adversary Paul Johnson came to the crease and was in no mood to hang around, dispatching balls to the boundary with consummate ease on the way to a quickfire 48 which ultimately saw Seven Sports home with almost 10 overs to spare.
